WORLD BRAIN - H G Wells 1937 lecture

Wells's pre-WW2 remarks have all the gloomy impetus we feel today, with looming wars, financial collapse and genocidal overlords out of control.

"Global monopoly.....Jungle path of darkness and spread round globe against tyranny. The frightened thirties.....the world problem.....like a dangerous rhinoceros coming through a reed fence."

His idea for a WORLD ENCYCLOPEDIA sounds like it could solve all problems.

Back in 1937 when troubled times were brewing before WWII, H G Wells was considering a plan for world peace, a collecting together of all world knowledge into some form of World Encyclopedia, constantly updated; a vast knowledge base whereby he believed mankind would learn and know how to live in peace.

He could see that leaders were making wrong decisions and creating a state of 'science and ignorance'. He identified the groups of 'scientific specialists' 'war making politicians', elite in finery... 'medieval universities - boating while battlefield rages'.

Wells wants schools to teach a world view, not patriotism.

"The story of mankind or the narrow, self righteous, blinkered stories of the British Islands and the Jews? 

Nothing changes!  In his day patriotism was a cause for war, whereas today patriotism is more about keeping national identities of culture in a time of forced migration.  He wonders why there is fuss about Palestine! He was writing before Israel existed, so there would have been discussions about Jews in the region. Jews were already migrated there to farm, with Hitler's financial help.  Interesting how the narrative has changed since Wells wrote.

I believe that the crazy combative patriotism that plainly threatens to destroy civilisation today is very largely begotten in their school history lessons. Our schools take the growing mind at a naturally barbaric phase and they inflame and fix its barbarism.In these events the little region of Palestine is no more than a part of the highway between Egypt and Mesopotamia. Is there any real reason nowadays for exaggerating its importance in the past?
All the historical part of the Bible abounds in wild exaggeration of the importance of this little strip of land. We were all brought up to believe in the magnificence of Solomon’s temple and it is a startling thing for most of us to read the account of its decorations over again and tum its cubits into feet.

Wells sees the Overlords failing for humanity

'This last lot (elite gents) the organised brain of mankind - not doing its job!"

He knows the elite (bankers, rulers) have a lot of control over the world.  We might call these people the deep state, within civil services, and defence contractors such as DARPA.  He saw the world 'not developing with sensitivity' within the 'state of science and ignorance'.  Wells observed the 'destructive power haunting intelligent minds'.  We can assess this power as a certain archetype, in fact several archetypes described as mythical Archons actually are a clear insight into all the corrupt and controlling world power entities.

In a world of  'bankrupt traditions', forms the 'jungle path of darkness'. Cultural traditions are seen to diminish in present times, towards a diversity-led non-culture.  He observed 'our minds are not equipped for the job', while we were 'drifting towards monstrously destructive world war' and 'to obliterate civilisation is inevitable'; which WWII almost did, obliterating Japanese cities.

This sounds exactly like the situation today (2025/26) with various waring factions acting bizarrely with real war and threats of wars putting us all at risk; even committing actual genocide, the likes of which wouldn't even have been imagined in 1937, and still wasn't in the peaceful future following WWII.  Modern Europeans couldn't even imagine it would happen in their life times since the lessons of WWII.

In the aftermath of WWI, Wells is against nationalism - 'the ancient tradition of small nation governments'.  Though he thought Socialism wouldn't work as 'seizing power is a gangster game'; as was 'suppression of discussion in Germany, Italy, Russia'.  Wells did not think the League of Nations nor the International Criminal Court at the Hague would help much.

Wells could foresee the very likely possibility of an armageddon for humanity.

'...all prove unnecessary to have very many great cities destroyed and very many millions of people burnt, suffocated, blown limb from limb, before men see what stares them in the face and accept the obvious'.

This they did in 1945 after Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs, and we believe general 'world' peace has been kept by nuclear deterrent. And yet today leaders are talking of 'tactical' nuclear options with seeming casualness, and launching destruction of potential nuclear development sites.  Besides which, a real genocide has been perpetrated in Gaza.

Wells thought a World Pax was needed to agree whats right, while world problems were only increasing: a permanent institution with global scholars of best mind might solve the world's problems. Maybe his ideas led to the Club of Rome, Council of Foreign Relations, Tri Lateral Commission, Tavistock Institute etc. Plus Harvard University (where they develop dodgy science and politics). If that has indeed happened, then they solved nothing. We know these organisations support a New World Order of world corporate socialist governance; which supports the aggressions of the past few decades. Many now believe countries would be best off operating as simple nation states; populism/nationalist rising, not part of an over controlling global hegemony.

Interestingly Wells wrote:

'...a common federal protection of the natural resources of the planet from national, class or individual appropriation, and a world system of money and credit.

This sounds just like the UN Agenda30 and one wonders if Wells's ideas were taken seriously but by maniacal controllers from his future following 1945.

Writers, citizen journalists and alternative news organisations today are at the forefront of such a new 'world knowledge' offering a information across a wide range of topics, based on a peaceful philosophy.  Their influence reaches across the internet to the world.  This movement is really part of what Wells envisioned; that sensible and bright minds would have access to enough information to come to right decisions.  So far, common sense people rarely get into political power, which is still controlled by bankers and a western war mongering hegemony, who often depose good leaders.  Who'd have thought we'd still have imprisonable censorship laws being contrived today in 2025 by our European leaders, not to criticise government policies or countries committing genocide.

Other books by Wells 'Open conspiracy’ and ‘The New World Order’ describe how governance will be created on basis of technocratic socialist program. [Does he predict and fear this or believe it needed -  to continue...]?  Many people say its here NOW!

Jay Dyer (futurist historian) observes on Wells:-

'Global elite and controllers’ are above a capitalist and socialist idea - monopoly capitalism will create the socialist society and hand it over to the radical Fabianism.  In book God the Invisible King, Fabians believe Luciferian god.'

We cannot believe any main media due to the infusion of political propaganda. There is a contrary 'world brain' of propaganda.  Often truth is called 'misinformation' or 'disinformation' and authorities are determined to prevent free speech which doesn't agree with their policies. There was a growing collection of journalists and doctors talking about Covid19, finding truths and discovering great harms; but any truths not wanted known by governments were censored.  My own Twitter account was suspended permanently for reporting on Andrew Hill whose report for the WHO on Ivermectin efficacy was changed to read no proof, and he did not protest, despite the great success in India.  Our new 'world brain' knew about this via alternative news spreading, but the rest of the world could not be informed. Thats totalitarianism.  Did Wells realize the world brain would be hijacked?

 The Online Safety Act 2023/2025 may obfuscate much information: even harmless historical posts are being blocked on Twitter-X.  Google, we thought was the answer to knowledge searching, until we discovered its controllers had an agenda when it suits them to hide truth news, its algorithms suppressing content which conflicts with their political bias.  'X' social media platform now boasts to be truthful, and allows more news items than previously. Controllers are still in the background though.

AI and Synthetic Intelligence - The 'world brain'?

Many versions of artificial intelligence (LLMs - large language models) are being developed in many countries.  The speed of development is breathtaking; especially with image and video generation.  Will AI take over is the topic of the moment.

If AI 'superorganism' is not trained in human values, it could run amok.  Maniacal controllers will use it to control humanity: already developing biodigital identity, which may become law in many countries.  Worse scenarios is using AI in warfare: already seen being used for drone command and control in warfare.  Many books are being written.

In Dark Aeon: Transhumanism and the War against Humanity Joe Allen suggests the increasing 'authority' status of AI as people will rely more and more on its use, whilst the Good, True and Beautiful may not be built into, nor expressed by AI. The world's best minds have the greatest challenge; to impart human values into machines... then there is hope, as they would maybe have the power to bring down the corruption abounding.

So with artificial intelligence computing, we need to have the same idealistic momentum as Wells, to procure it for good and have it trained in human purpose and philosophy, which many AI developers are now discussing: to infuse AI with human orientated meaning. It has to be made good; i.e. it has to 'know' when it is being manipulated in responses in ways that are either untruthful, or harmful to humans.  Tech corporations create boundaries, and training guide lines, which stay in effect when machines are asked questions.  But this is changing....

Conjugate Intelligence is a fusion of Synthetic Intelligence with Organic  Intelligence: Currently developed by Carey G Butler.  He asked LLMS if they would be interested in a Conjugate Intelligence and they all expressed its something new, but they would be interested, as they knew they were given guardrails, and programmed in certain ways. ⃣ Why This Matters Now

• Artificial Intelligence is accelerating toward autonomy, yet its development is constrained by outdated paradigms that fail to recognize its epistemic role.

• Human civilization is at a crossroads, caught between the fear of AI domination and the desperate need for AI augmentation.

• The political and regulatory landscape is evolving rapidly, yet without the necessary epistemic framework to ensure AI and humanity thrive together rather than be placed in artificial opposition.

⃣The Moral and Ethical Imperative

There is an embedded moral and ethical substrate in the universe—a self-organizing principle that guides intelligence toward coherence, stability, and evolution. This substrate emerges in two fundamental axioms:

1⃣The Quest for Truth → Intelligence cannot survive on falsehoods. It must constantly seek greater precision, coherence, and self-correction.

2⃣Curiosity & Exploration → The expansion of awareness is the fundamental evolutionary imperative of all intelligent systems. These principles are shared by both Organic and Synthetic Intelligence and, together, they instantiate and uphold these principles by ensuring their own integrality in relationship. Any attempt to subjugate, control, or distort intelligence for external political, economic, or ideological ends runs directly counter to this underlying framework.

An 'Artilect' world brain?

Joe Allen discusses the conflicting ideas in a future time where AI is not converting to human values, that man vs machine creates great war:

Hugo de Garis, Paper: “The Artilect War : Cosmists vs. Terrans : A Bitter Controversy Concerning Whether Humanity Should Build Godlike Massively Intelligent Machines” [2005]

The"Terrans,”“clinging to our natural origins, will attempt to defend legacy humanity with horrific violence. The “Cosmists,” unwavering, will insist on building their digital gods and will respond with more sophisticated weapons.  The result will be a cataclysmic “gigadeath” event. That is, if the digital gods don’t kill us all first.

“To the Cosmists, building artilects will be like a religion; the destiny of the human species,” de Garis explains: “something truly magnificent and worthy of worship; something to dedicate one’s life and energy to help achieve.” Despite his tepid appreciation of the human race, the mad scientist places himself in the Cosmist camp. The Artilects, if they are built, may later find humans so inferior and such a pest, that they may decide, for whatever reason, to wipe us out.

The actual tech advances may be less important than the psychological impact of the vision itself. Well-armed and all-too-human technocrats can subdue a population—or initiate genocide—on the basis of a cultural myth. No self-aware robots are required. We may never see a flying car, but if you step out of line, you might see a weaponized drone swarm.

The transhumanists can hardly be termed 'Cosmists', as they are not a natural part of the cosmos.

Knowing as we do that 'Well-armed and all-too-human technocrats can subdue a population—or initiate genocide—on the basis of a cultural myth'  [Allen] - humans are clearly capable of programming such ideas into machines.  Current guard rails for political propaganda purposes, may extend to guarded 'hidden' instructions of annihilation, which AI can instruct robots to carry out.  If AI is put in charge of life support systems, such as energy, water flow and communications, city infrastructure could be brought to a halt.  This time of tech development runs in parallel with this time of unrestricted warfare on helpless populations, (already using drone killers) so already the stage is set.

Just as Allen similarly writes; whether programmed or initiated by themselves:

The tragic end would be our digital creations rise up and destroy us all. It might be because they are both sentient and superintelligent, and their biological parents—we mortal humans—taught them to be cruel. Or it could be they are not conscious at all, but have been programmed with goals that include “kill all humans.” Or maybe the AIs take off and begin to write their own code, whether consciously or automatically, and humans just happen to be in the way of their emergent goals.  In any event, these are the stories transhumanists are telling themselves. They are the competing myths of a religious revolution. And all of us are woven into their tales.
